The Capitals are excited to announce the addition of 20 year old forward Jackson Alexeev from the Toronto Patriots of the Ontario Junior Hockey League in exchange for 2002 defenceman Declan Fogarty and future considerations. Alexeev hails from Richmond Hill, Ontario and is listed at 6’0″ tall and 190lbs. Last season with the Patriots he finished at more than a point per game with 14 goals and 29 assists for 43 points in 39 games. That total was the fifth highest on the team last year while he also added 1 goal and 2 assists for 3 points in 4 playoff games. Over his three years in the OJHL, Alexeev totalled 96 points in 132 games, last season he was selected to play in the OJHL All-Star Game.
“Jackson is a skilled, experienced player, leader, has great vision and play making abilities. He will help us in both ends of the ice, on special teams, provides leader ship as well wearing a letter with the Patriots. He competes hard and we think he can be a big player for us” said Capitals Head Coach and General Manager Brian Passmore.
Prior to playing with the Patriots, Alexeev spent one year in the Central Canadian Hockey League with the Ottawa Jr A Senators, and was selected in the 10th round of the Ontario Hockey League Draft by the Saginaw Spirit.
The Capitals welcome Jackson, and wish Declan the best of luck in Toronto.
