Capitals acquire forwards Walsh and Schofield from Salmon Arm

The Cowichan Capitals are excited to announce the acquisition 2002 born forwards Ronan Walsh and Sam Schofield from the Salmon Arm Silverbacks in exchange for 2002 born forward Nathan Morgan.

Walsh is an 18 year old import forward out of Andover, New Hampshire, that spent the last 4 years playing at Proctor Academy in New Hampshire, playing in the United States High School Prep League. In 4 seasons at Proctor, Walsh played 116 games, scoring 47 goals and finishing at just under a point per game with 109 points. Last year he finished 2nd on team scoring with 32 points in 27 games, and tied for the team lead with 13 goals. Walsh is also committed to the University of Vermont once he graduates from junior hockey.

Schofield spent last season with the Silverbacks, his rookie BCHL season, scoring 4 goals and adding 11 assists for 14 points in 49 games. Prior to that he was with the Vancouver Northeast Chiefs of the British Columbia Major Midget League, scoring 36 points in 38 games, including 19 goals, the 3rd most on the team.

“Ronan brings size and strength to the Right wing, a right shot power forward who likes to use his size to create space and get his shot off. While Sam is a feisty, aggressive and competitive player, who adds high character, energy and youth into our team, while already having a year of BCHL experience” said Capitals Interim Head Coach and General Manager Brian Passmore.

The Capitals acquired Morgan from Grande Prairie last week in exchange for Dan McIntyre.
