The Cowichan Capitals are excited to announce the acquisition of 18 year old defender Tanner Komzak from the Penticton Vees in exchange for future considerations. Komzak spent last season, his first year in the BCHL, with the Langley Rivermen. He stands 6’4″, weighs 190 lbs and hails from North Vancouver, BC. The Vees acquired Komzak earlier this summer ahead of BCHL teams extended training camps going on now. Last year Komzak scored once and finished with 4 points as the only rookie in the Langley defensive core.

“We really wanted to solidify the depth on our blue line and Tanner will definitely do that. He’s got size, and great mobility for his size. He’s still a young player entering his 18 year old season, and we believe he’s got a lot of potential” said Capitals Head Coach and General Manager Geoff Grimwood.

In 2018/19 Komzak played for the Langley Trappers of the Pacific Junior Hockey League, the lower mainland’s Junior B league. In 39 games, he finished first among Trappers defensemen with 8 goals and 23 points as a rookie 17 year old. Prior to that he spent two seasons playing at the West Vancouver Hockey Academy in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League.

Welcome to Cowichan Tanner!
