The South Island Serpents are now part of the Cowichan Capitals junior development pathway, creating expanded opportunities for young players throughout Vancouver Island.

The Capital Serpents program will continue to offer high-quality spring and development programming while benefiting from enhanced coaching opportunities, guest instructors, and a stronger connection to the Cowichan Capitals organization.

Spring Season Information

The spring season will officially begin at the end of March 2027. We will be based out of Duncan, Fuller Lake, Shawnigan Lake, and Lake Cowichan. It will run into early/mid-June depending on tournament selection.
2019 and up cost: $1800 for skaters and $1300 for goalies (tax included).

• 2019/2020 Development team cost: $1000 for skaters and $675 for goalies.
• 2020/2021/2022 Development group: $300 for all. This group is purely developmental and
  receives a jersey for practices.

• Game jerseys and socks with custom number/name
• Team swag such as hoodies, shirts, shorts, and other apparel
• Practice and development ice time
• Lower Mainland tournament opportunities
• Island-based exhibition games

• Swag, such as, hoodies and shorts.
• 1 tournaments in the Lower Mainland. It is possible to attend more tournaments, but this can be determined by either individual team at the start of the spring season (and will require further cost).
• 18 hours of practice/development time for each team.
• 1 or 2 Island based exhibition games.
• Guest Development Coaches.

When will the team be set?

To help facilitate an earlier completion of the schedule and tournament selection, we are hoping to have the teams set by January 1 st , 2027.

Tryouts

We will use our Capitals Serpent Summer Camp as a starting point for evaluation. These camps
are not required, but they help with familiarizing players with coaches. In the fall there will be three tryout sessions, and players must attend two to be considered.

Summer Camp Information

Capital Serpents summer programming focuses on season preparation, individual and pair skills, passing, tactics, and a strong emphasis on small-area games.

• U15: 2012 and 2013 birth years
• U13: 2014 and 2015 birth years
• U11: 2016 and 2017 birth years
• U9: 2018 and 2019 birth years
• U7: 2020, 2021, and select 2022 birth years
