Capitals graduated captain Brett Fudger commits to Oswego State for 2022/23

The Cowichan Capitals are excited to announce that graduated forward and 2021/22 team captain Brett Fudger has committed to Oswego State for the 2022/23 season! Fudger played two seasons with the Capitals joining the team during the 2020 extended preseason in a trade from Vernon. This season he scored a career best 17 goals which was tied for 2nd most on the team with both Massimo Lombardi and Luke Haymes, and finished 5th in points with 32 in 45 games. Over his 3 BCHL seasons Fudger totalled 52 points in 112 games played.

“I’m excited to further my hockey and education at SUNY-Oswego. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the program and school. I’m very thankful for the opportunity and hoping to make an impact right away, on and off the ice” said Fudger.

Last year the Oswego State Lakers play in the State University of New York Conference and last year finished first in the regular season with a record of 18-7-1 overall and 12-3-1 during in conference play. They featured two former BCHL players in Troy Robillard (Coquitlam) and Connor Sleeth (Vernon). Fudger’s commitment means that all 6 Capitals graduating 20 year old players will be continuing their hockey careers while getting an education as both Colin Campbell (Wilfrid Laurier) and Griffin Wilson (Guelph) play in Canada, while David Jacobs (Princeton), Shane LaVelle (Lindenwood) and Adam Jeffery (RIT) play NCAA Hockey.

Congrats Brett!
