Capitals commit to import defenceman Saxen Robertson for 2022/23 season

The Cowichan Capitals are excited to announce the commitment of 2004 born defenceman Saxen Robertson for the 2022/2023 season. Robertson, from St Louis, Missouri has spent the last number of seasons playing for both the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite Jr Program as well as Selects Hockey Academy. So far in the 2021/22 season Robertson has 5 goals and 5 assists for 10 points in 16 games with the Penguins, and 3 assists in 14 games with the Selects Hockey Academy U18 program. At 17 years old Robertson has good size listed at 6’1″ 190lbs and the coaching staff are excited for what Robertson provides in all three zones on the ice.

“Saxen is a well rounded, good sized defencemen that is smooth skating, he defends well and can contribute on the offensive side. Saxen is well suited for the BCHL, he anticipates the play and makes plays under pressure, a smart two way defender that plays with his head up. Saxen has a high compete level and a determined athlete that is hard to play against. We would like to welcome Saxen to the Capitals, we are excited to see what he brings to our backend” said Capitals Head Coach and General Manager Brian Passmore.

In the 2020/21 season playing for the Selects U16 team finished 3rd on the team in scoring with 21 goals and 21 assists for 42 points in 36 games, more than doubling the next highest scoring defender on the team. He was also the highest scoring defenseman in all of U16 league play. Welcome to Cowichan Saxen!
