The Cowichan Capitals are excited to announce the acquisition of 2004 born forward Gavin Giesbrecht and future considerations from the Coquitlam Express in exchange for 2003 born forward Cole Melady and future considerations. Giesbrecht is in his 2nd season of BCHL play, and last season totalled 18 goals and 34 points. So far in 2023 he has 3 goals and 4 points in 12 games. After graduating junior hockey, Giesbrecht is committed to play NCAA Division 1 Hockey at Ferris State University.
Melady is in his 3rd season of BCHL play, and so far in his 20 year old season has 3 goals and 10 points in 13 games. The Capitals thank Cole for his year plus spent in a Capitals uniform and in the Cowichan Valley and wish him the best of luck in Coquitlam.
