Capitals acquire 19 year old Cole Melady from Bonnyville

The Cowichan Capitals have acquired 19 year old forward Cole Melady from the Bonnyville Pontiacs in exchange for future considerations. Melady, from Seaforth, Ontario started the season with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs after joining them to start the 2021/22 season. Over the weekend he was traded from Alberni Valley to Bonnyville of the Alberta Junior Hockey League before being acquired by the Capitals.

In 2021 Melady scored 4 times and finished with 12 points, so far this season he has 2 assists in 6 games.

“Cole is a veteran player in the league, a mature player that is tough to battle against. Cole plays a physically intense brand of hockey and competes hard in all areas of the ice. A strong player and a great character addition to the roster. He will be given opportunity and should come into his own offensively. Cole was tough to play against in the division and he played very well last season against us in the playoffs. We are thrilled to add him to our team” said Capitals Head Coach and General Manager Brian Passmore.

Melady has joined the Capitals and is with the team this week for the showcase in Chilliwack.
