CULLEN FERGUSON COMMITS TO UNION COLLEGE

The Cowichan Capitals are excited to announce that 19 year old defenceman and assistant captain Cullen Ferguson has committed to NCAA Division 1 Union College to play collegiate hockey after graduating from junior. Ferguson joins 20 year old teammate Thomas Richter as future Union Dutchmen hockey players, which play out of Schenectady, New York.

“Words can’t explain how happy I am to be a part of the Union family. My family, friends, coaches, and teammates over the years are the reason I’ve gotten to this point in my hockey career and I couldn’t be more grateful for them” said Ferguson.

In the 2020/2021 extended training camp Ferguson leads Capitals defencemen in points and sits 3rd on the team with 2 goals and 5 assists in 8 games. His 7 points is 4th among BCHL defenders and his 2 goals is tied for the league lead among blueliners early in the season. Last year Ferguson scored once and finished with 13 points in 56 games, and added one assist in Cowichan’s opening round series win over Powell River.

Ferguson joins Tom Richer (Union), Ronan Walsh (Vermont) and Eric Dedobbelaer (UMASS – Amherst) as Capitals committed to play NCAA Division 1 Collegiate Hockey. Congrats Cullen!
