Capitals This Week – Feb 7-13

It’s a busy week for the Capitals as they look to regroup and start making up ground in the playoff race. The Caps are looking to bounce back after a couple of losses last week to Powell River. The Capitals played well enough to earn 4 points, however the Kings were able to battle back in consecutive games and steal 4 points from the Caps.

The Capitals head into this week with 24 points, tied with Coquitlam for the 8th & final playoff spot. Coquitlam however, has 5 games in hand, giving them the edge based on winning percentage. The Capitals and Express will play 3 times in the next month, all taking place at the Big Stick. It’s no secret these 3 matchups between these clubs have huge playoff implications.

Wednesday, the Caps welcome their rivals from Alberni Valley to town. The Bulldogs have had the Caps number this season, winning 6 of 7 contests so far. The Caps lone win came December 29th in Port Alberni. The last few meetings have been closely contested. Both clubs have beenĀ  getting solid goaltending in these matchups. Alberni Valley has been doing a great job at shutting down Cowichan’s offence. Puck drop is scheduled for 7. Saturday, the Capitals head to Alberni for the second half of the home & home. Puck drop for this one is also scheduled for 7.

Sunday, the Caps will host the Coquitlam Express for an afternoon tilt. As mentioned, playoff implications are on the line in this one as the Caps need to make up ground to stay alive in the push for the playoffs. This will be one you won’t want to miss. Puck drop for this one is 2pm.
