Capitals Commitment: Defenceman Chase Ramsay

The Cowichan Capitals are excited to announce the commitment of 17 year old American-born defencerman Chase Ramsay for the 2021-2022 season. Ramsay hails from Granite Springs, New York and plays at the Avon Old Farms School along with the Mid Fairfield Rangers U18 team. This season with the Rangers Ramsay tallied 2 goals and 5 points in 7 games, while last season with Avon Old Farms he finished with 1 goal and 13 points in 27 games played. Ramsay was named the Captain of Avon this season, but they have not played this year.

“Chase is a smart, mobile and solid two-way defencemen. He has a hard shot from the point, great skating ability and makes good reads under pressure. We are very happy to welcome Chase to the Capitals” said Head Coach and General Manager Brian Passmore.

Chase’s father Jim Ramsay is the Head Athletic Trainer and Director of Conditioning for the NHL’s New York Rangers and has also been the Head Athletic Trainer for Canada’s Men’s Olympic Hockey Team since 2000.
