Every season, players from across North America leave home to pursue their hockey and academic goals with the Cowichan Capitals. While they arrive as players, they quickly become part of the community—and often part of the family.
Billet families play an essential role in our organization by providing a welcoming, supportive home environment throughout the season. Many billet families form lifelong friendships with the players they host and become a valued part of the Capitals family.

Housing Dates
Players generally arrive in late August and remain with billet families through the conclusion of the season, typically in April. Exact arrival and departure dates may vary depending on team commitments, playoffs, and individual player circumstances.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do players attend school?
Yes. Many Capitals players attend local high schools, online programs, or post-secondary institutions while playing hockey.
Can we billet more than one player?
Absolutely. Many families choose to host two players, and often the players become great friends throughout the season.
What if we have vacations or other commitments?
The Capitals work closely with billet families to help accommodate vacations and scheduling needs whenever possible.
Do players help around the house?
Players are expected to be respectful members of the household, keep their living areas tidy, and contribute positively to the family environment.
