PRESEASON GAME DAY – CAPITALS HOST GRIZZLIES

After taking both ends of the home-and-home set with Alberni Valley, Cowichan will wrap up their exhibition schedule with a pair of games against the Victoria Grizzlies this weekend. Cowichan is 2-0 in the preseason, with a 6-4 win in Alberni Valley on Saturday and a 4-3 win over the Bulldogs on Wednesday night. The line of Dan McIntyre centring Andy Bridgewater and Zach Brooks was productive once again with McIntyre and Bridgewater each tallying a goal and an assist while Brooks chipped in with 2 helpers, and now has 5 assists in two games. Zach Borgiel played the full game on Wednesday, stopping 25/28 in the win, while Ben Howard backed up but got the night off. Cowichan’s other goals came from Guillaume St Onge and Josh Kagan, as the Capitals scored three times in under three minutes halfway through the 3rd period with the latter two coming on a 4 minute, double minor power play.

The Grizzlies are in search of their first exhibition win, after dropping both ends of a home and home set with the Nanaimo Clippers last weekend, by scores of 5-3 and 3-1. Connor Eddy leads the Grizz with a goal and an assist in 2 games, while Kahlil Fontana has a pair of assists. Saturday the Capitals and Grizzlies will face off in Sooke at 2:00 PM in Victoria’s annual exhibition game at Seaparc Arena.
