Former Cowichan Capitals Head Coach Mike Vandekamp will not be returning to Cowichan next season and has signed with the Grande Prairie Storm of the AJHL after spending the past two seasons with the Capitals. This season Cowichan finished 2nd in the Island Division with a record of 35-16-5-2 record before beating Powell River in the opening round of the BCHL Playoffs in 5 games. Over the last two seasons under Vandekamp the Capitals went 52-51-10-3 and won two playoff series, knocking off Penticton in the 2018 playoffs first round.
The Capitals thank Mike for his time in Cowichan, and wish him the best of luck in Grande Prairie.
