Massimo Lombardi joins Vermont Catamounts for second half of 2022/23 season

Capitals 20 year old forward Massimo Lombardi has been called up by the Vermont Catamounts NCAA Division 1 Mens Hockey Program to join the team for the second half of the 2022/23 season. Lombardi secured his commitment to Vermont earlier this season, and will join the Catamounts for the remainder of the season following the holiday break.

“I’d like to say thank you and farewell. I will not be returning for the second half of the season as I was called up early to play for the University of Vermont. It was a privilege and a great experience to play in the Cowichan Valley and for the Capitals. Thank you to all the fans and the community for your support for the last year and a half” said Lombardi.

In parts of two seasons, Lombardi played 74 games, recording 20 goals and 46 assists for 66 points. This year in 25 games, Lombardi recorded 9 goals and 25 points. While the Capitals will miss Massimo for the remainder of the season, they also congratulate him on moving on to get a collegiate education while continuing to play hockey at a high level.

Thank you for spending a year and a half with the Capitals and in the Cowichan Valley and best of luck at Vermont Massimo!
