Capitals Week in Review

Your Capitals returned from the holiday break looking to continue their recent streak of good play. After a tough month of November, the Capitals went 4-2-1 in December to finish off the first half of the season.

Wednesday, December 29th @ Alberni Valley

Netminder Mccoy Bidewell was spectacular, stopping 36/38, leading your Capitals to a 3-2 road win in Alberni Valley. Finding the goal column for the first time this season was Ethan Anstey. Massimo Lombardi (8th of season) and Matteo Turrin (2nd of season) also tickled the twine, with Turrin’s being the eventual game winner. Scoring for the Bulldogs was Brandon Buhr and Logan Holm.

Saturday, January 1st Vs. Alberni Valley

Looking to avenge their Wednesday loss on home ice, the Bulldogs brought their A game to Duncan and skated away with a 2-0 victory. Capitals netminder Bidewell was again spectacular stopping 38/39. Although not tested too often, Alberni goalie Mason Dunford did what he needed to do to earn the shutout. Alberni defenceman Kai Greaves fired the lone shot to beat Bidewell, while Brandon Buhr sealed the deal with a late empty netter.

Sunday January 2nd Vs. Powell River

The Capitals came out of the gate flying, out playing the Kings, and jumping to a 1-0 lead. The Kings were able to weather the early storm and rode a sizzling hot power play to a 5-2 win. The Caps had their chances but struggled to stay out of the box and the Kings were able to make them pay. Affilliate goaltender Matthew Hutchison was solid in goal for the Caps. Haymes (9TH) and Turrin (3rd) had the Capitals goals.
