Capitals Luke Strickland named to BCHL All-Star team

DUNCAN, BC – The BCHL has announced the first group of All-Stars for the 2022/23 season Thursday morning, and Capitals forward Luke Strickland is one of the 18 players nominated to the team. The BCHL All-Star festivities include an outdoor All-Star Game and Top Prospects Game in Penticton between January 20th-22nd.

Strickland leads the Capitals and is 2nd in the BCHL in goals with 13 in 17 games, and is tied for 6th in the BCHL with 21 points. Entering this weekend, and the All-Star announcement, Strickland has a 4 game goal streak and 7 points in his last 4 games. Strickland is committed to Long Island University for next season.

The format for the tournament is:

  • 3-on-3
  • Played on a newly built outdoor rink in Downtown Penticton
  • Four teams of six skaters and one goalie (two teams per conference)
  • Round robin format
  • Top two teams face-off in the championship game

The All-Stars will also participate in a skills competition earlier in the day with events including hardest shot, accuracy and more.

The process for the fan vote to fill out the remaining roster spots, as well as the list players eligible for the vote, will be unveiled at 10 a.m. on Monday morning.
