Capitals graduated forward Griffin Wilson commits to University of Guelph

The Cowichan Capitals are excited to announce that graduated forward Griffin Wilson has committed to the University of Guelph Gryphons USPORTS Hockey team for the 2022/23 season! Wilson, from Elora, Ontario played his 20 year old season with the Capitals after 3 seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Owen Sound Attack. This season Wilson played in all 54 regular season games and finished with 10 goals and 33 points while adding another goal in the playoffs. The OHL did not play in 2020/21 but in his first two seasons there he totalled 6 goals and 18 points in 99 career games before the shutdown in March of 2020. Wilson was a valuable addition to the Capitals playing in all situations and centering the Cowichan top line.

“I’m beyond excited to join a program like Guelph that has had so much success, and I look forward to continuing my hockey career as well focusing on my academics” said Wilson.

Guelph plays in the USPORTS Ontario University Athletics conference in the Far West Division, where Wilson and the Gryphons will face off against Colin Campbell and the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks. Wilson becomes the 5th Capitals 20 year old to secure a university or collegiate commitment for next season joining Campbell North of the border while David Jacobs (Princeton), Adam Jeffery (RIT), and Shane LaVelle (Lindenwood) will all play NCAA Division 1.

Congrats Griffin!
