Capitals Commitment: Defenceman Nick Marciano

The Cowichan Capitals are excited to announce the commitment of 2002 born left shot defenceman Nick Marciano for the 2021-2022 season. Marciano, who will be celebrating his 19th birthday on Wednesday, May 19th hails from Greenwich, Connecticut and previously played at the Kent School in the United States High School League. He stands 6’2″ and weighs 194 lbs, and is the second Capitals 2021 recruit to join the team having already secured an NCAA Commitment. At the beginning of May, the Capitals committed to 20 year old import forward David Jacobs, who will attend Princeton after graduating from junior hockey, Marciano is also committed to the University of Princeton to play Division 1 hockey for the Tigers.

“Nick is a smooth skating and puck moving defensemen. He gets up in the rush and is a good threat offensively, he picks his spots well and is responsible defensively. Nick reads the play and is quick reacting with a good stick. A big body that likes to use his size to his advantage. Nick will help on special teams and brings all the intangibles that we look for in building this team moving forward” said Capitals Head Coach and General Manager Brian Passmore.

In his last full season of hockey in 2019/20, Marciano finished with 23 points (3 goals) in 26 games for Kent School. That number was the second most points on the team, and by far the most points amoung Kent School blueliners. In 2020/21 the high school league did not play and Marciano scored 2 points in four games with the Minnesota Wilderness of the North American Hockey League.

Welcome to Cowichan Nick!
