Capitals commit to Norwegian forward Lars Petter Eckholm for 2023/24

DUNCAN, BC – The Cowichan Capitals are excited to announce the commitment of 19 year old Norwegian forward Lars Petter Eckholm for the 2023/24 season. Petter Eckholm comes to the Capitals and North America after spending the past 4 seasons playing in Sweden with the Rogle BK program at the U16, J18 and J20 levels, including a J20 League Championship this past season. In 39 games at the J20 level as an 18 year old Petter Eckholm scored 13 goals and recorded 19 points. Those totals were tied for 5th on the team in goals and 9th in points. 

In 2021/22 playing for Rogle BK J18, Petter Eckholm recorded 18 points in 13 games of Regional League play, and another 7 points in 9 games of National League play. Originally from Fetsund, Norway, Petter Eckholm is listed 6’0” – 187lbs and is a left shot winger. After graduating from junior hockey, Petter Eckholm will remain in North America as he holds a commitment to the University of New Hampshire NCAA Division 1 Mens Hockey Program. 

As of June 1st, 2023 the BCHL has become an independent league from Hockey Canada and now is able to have out-of-province U18 age Canadians come to BC, as well as Americans and new this season, European born players. The past roster minimums for British Columbia born players remains the same.
