Capitals commit to 2004 born forward Kai Dunits for 2022/23

The Cowichan Capitals are excited to announce the commitment of 2004 born forward Kai Dunits for the 2022/23 season. Dunits comes to the Capitals out of Ridley College, the same program that Cowichan recruited 2021/22 team rookie of the year and leading goal scorer Luke Haymes out of. After not playing in the 2020/21season when Haymes and Dunits both attended Ridley, Dunits led the team in scoring last season, with 11 goals and 23 points in 14 games. His 11 goals were 4 more than the next highest scoring teammate, and his 12 assists matched the second highest points total on the team.

“Kai is highly skilled, a smart player and hard working. A player that can play in all situations. He is around the puck and hungry to make plays. With the puck he creates and has good finish around the net. A determined player that plays well in all zones. His ability to make good reads and anticipate plays will lead to his success with the Capitals” said Head Coach and General Manager Brian Passmore.

Dunits, from Kanata, Ontario played the 2019/20 season with the Kemptville 73’s U18 team where he finished 2nd on the team in scoring with 18 goals and 50 points in 44 games, his 32 assists were a team high. He was a 6th round pick of the Kitchener Rangers in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection Draft. Welcome to the Capitals Kai!
