Capitals commit to 2003 born forward Oliver Salo for 2022/23

The Cowichan Capitals are excited to announce the commitment of 2003 born forward Oliver Salo for the upcoming 2022/23 season! Salo originally out of Kaarina, Finland is the son of longtime NHL defenceman and former Vancouver Canuck Sami Salo. Oliver has spent the last two seasons playing Prep Hockey at Rothesay Netherwood School in Rothesay, New Brunswick, in the 2021/22 season Salo finished with 26 goals and 28 assists for 54 points, tops on the team. He had more assists than all but one player on the team, Brandon Clarke, had points. In MPHL league play Salo finished with 2 goals and 5 points in 3 games.

“Oliver is a highly skilled winger with great vision and creativity. Oliver creates plays and provides offence, he reads the play well and anticipates really well. He is talented, has good size and a great shot. Oliver will be a fun player to watch for the 2022-23 Capitals team” said Capitals Head Coach and General Manager Brian Passmore.

In the 2020/21 shortened season, Salo tallied 4 goals and 6 points in 5 games. Prior to that season he played U16 hockey in Finland with Turun Palloseura (TPS) recording 11 points in 23 games.

Welcome to Cowichan Oliver!
