Capitals commit to 2003 born forward Jacob Ierfino for the 2022/23 season

The Cowichan Capitals are excited to announce the commitment of 19 year old Jacob Ierfino for the 2022/23 BCHL season. Ierfino hails from Châteauguay, Quebec and currently plays for Portsmouth Abbey School in Rhode Island in the United States High School Hockey League. He is the captain of the team and is averaging more than a point and a half per game with 24 goals and 19 assists for 43 points in 26 games played.

“We are excited to announce the addition of Jacob Ierfino to the Capitals for the 2022-23 hockey season. Jacob has had a great offensive output with Portsmouth Abbey School in the USHS- prep league. Jacob is a feisty player with good speed. He is hungry on the puck and has a high compete level. Jacob has a great ability to read and anticipate the play and has a great shot” said Capitals Head Coach and General Manager Brian Passmore.

This season Ierfino also played 5 games with the Rhode Island Hitmen U18 team totalling 2 goals and 4 points. Last season as a Junior at Portsmouth Abbey he scored 3 times and finished with 11 points in 24 games. Back in the 2018/19 season, both Ierfino and current Capital Massimo Lombardi played together with the John-Rennie High School Predateurs, where Lombardi led the team in scoring with 15 goals and 36 points in 22 games as a 17 year old and a 16 year old Ierfino was 6th in team scoring with 7 goals and 17 points in 21 games.
