Duncan, BC – The Cowichan Capitals are pleased to announce that Nicholas Arnold will serve as the team’s play-by-play broadcaster for the 2026-27 BCHL season, calling Capitals games both at home and on the road.
Arnold returns for his third season broadcasting games within the Capitals organization and will be joined by Steve Forster on colour commentary throughout the season.
Fans can follow the Capitals throughout the year on 89.7 Sun FM, with Arnold behind the microphone telling the story of the season from across the BCHL.
Originally from Southwestern Ontario, Arnold developed his passion for hockey at a young age, regularly attending games at Detroit’s historic Joe Louis Arena. His early experiences around the game included opportunities to meet hockey legends Gordie Howe and Ted Lindsay.
That passion eventually led Arnold into the hockey industry. He spent two seasons working with the Oshawa Generals and later interned with The Hockey News in Toronto. Along the way, he gained experience covering and interviewing some of the game’s most recognizable names, including Auston Matthews, Matthew Tkachuk, Eric Lindros and Jarmo Kekalainen.
Arnold moved to Vancouver Island in 2021 to join Sun FM. Since arriving in the Cowichan Valley, he has worked his way from weekend news reporter to Afternoon Drive Host and can now be heard weekdays from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.
“I’m thrilled to be back and telling the story of your Cowichan Capitals. Having seen the growth in this organization over the last couple of seasons, the sky truly is the limit. One of the joys of my time on the Island has been seeing the community at work here in the Cowichan Valley. I’m looking forward to seeing that community’s passion channelled through this team in what should be another successful season. Say ‘hi’ when you see me on the concourse!” said Arnold.
Alongside Forster, Arnold will bring fans the action throughout the 2026-27 campaign as the Capitals begin a new season at the Cowichan Community Centre.
The Capitals open the regular season this Friday, September 18 at 7:00 p.m. against the Victoria Grizzlies, with the Home Opener presented by Duncan Dodge.
