The Cowichan Valley Capitals announced today that they have acquired forward Chris
Zaires, from the Westside Warriors. Zaires, this completes the trade that sent forward
Clinton Pettapiece to the Warriors, for Forwards Alex Gellert, Kevin Walrod and now
Chris Zaires.
"We are really looking forward to the start of the year, we have added three talented
forwards that will be impact players this season" said Capitals General Manager & Head
Coach Scott Robinson. “These players will also bring additional veteran leadership to our
club”.
Zaires 5’11” 185 lbs, hails from Aberdeen, New Jersey scored 20 regular season and 4
play-off goals in his rookie season for the Warriors. The 19 year old winger was also a 1st
Team All-Star in 2006/07 for Lawrenceville High School and named MVP in the New
Jersey Prep Senior All Star game in 2007.
We look to Chris to add scoring punch to our line up” said Robinson. "This addition,
really gives us a good nucleus of veteran players at the forward position”.
In other transactions, the Caps signed Defensemen Matt Ridley, from Kelowna, BC and
Alain Doucet from Grande Prairie Alberta. Ridley and Doucet both played Midget and
both bring size and strength to the Caps.
