Be a Billet Family for the Capitals!

Every year the Cowichan Valley Capitals welcome 23 players from around Canada and the USA to the Cowichan Valley. Their stay lasts anywhere from a single day to a whole season.

Are you interested in becoming a Billet?

Our players want to experience their time away from their families in a caring environment, and to have a home away from home.
Having a Hockey player in your home takes time, patience, and a willingness to share. There are lots of differences both cultural
and personal, both is part of the joy of welcoming someone new into your home and in many cases making a new friend for life.

What makes a great billet?

A sensitive and patient family! It can be overwhelming for a player to be so far away from home. A thoughtful billet family
appreciates that each player is unique and that communication and mutual understanding take effort.
Our billets are interest in sharing their lifestyle in a positive and mutually rewarding way and can offer a safe, secure
and welcome home to learn and grow in.

Things to Consider:

Even the most self assured players appreciate good quality time with their billet family and, is everyone in your household
ready to accept some one new into your home.

What you Provide:

A private bedroom and closet
Nutritious meals
A patient, caring and friendly home atmosphere.
The same guidance and attention you would want for your children

What you Receive:

A firsthand understanding of being a hockey fan.
A new perspective on hockey as seen through the eyes of your player.
The opportunity to make a difference to a young player.
Season tickets for your immediate family.
A monthly stipend in the form of grocery coupons.
Orientation and support from the Cowichan Valley Capitals team and other experienced billets.
Invitation to the Year End banquet.

All of our players fill out a detailed application and must comply with specific guidelines for behaviour and academic performance.
